Audio never leaves your device

Pawdio uses OpenAI's Whisper model running entirely on your Mac. When you speak, the audio is processed by the local model and immediately discarded. There is no network request, no upload, no cloud processing. We couldn't access your audio even if we wanted to.

Encrypted local storage

Your transcription history is stored in an encrypted database on your Mac. The encryption key is derived from your machine's hardware identifier and stored in your macOS Keychain, so only you can access your data through Pawdio. You can search, copy, or delete your history at any time.

This means even if someone steals your laptop, removes the hard drive, or copies the database file to a USB stick, your dictation history is completely unreadable without your macOS login credentials. Your words stay yours.

No account required

You can use Pawdio without creating an account, providing an email, or signing in with anything. The free tier works completely offline. Paid plans only require a Stripe payment — we never store your card details.

One-time model download

On first launch, Pawdio downloads the OpenAI Whisper AI model from Hugging Face (approximately 150 MB). The app also performs a periodic license verification request — no voice, text, or personal data is included. After the model download, all transcription runs 100% offline — no internet needed.

No telemetry or tracking

Pawdio does not include analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or telemetry of any kind. We don't know how often you use the app, what you dictate, or what apps you use it in. Your usage is your business.
